Identifying Bipolar Triggers

When first getting diagnosed you may not know all of your triggers. And some daily patterns can tell you a lot about your current mental state. Too much sleep can be a sign of depression. While too much energy and getting by with little amounts of sleep; can trigger mania.

Bad habits from different substances can trigger mania or extreme mood swings. Even something as benign as caffeine can induce a Hypomanic state. It's a common trait for those with Bipolar Disorder to get intoxicated from different substances.

With Bipolar it's best to have the same daily routine. Doing this can keep your mind stable for longer periods of time. With all of these triggers, another thing to pay attention to is your music choices. When depressed we all know sad music is attributed to a low mood.

But with Hypomania I noticed that when I'm listening to fast paced music or lyrics that get me hyped I sometimes feel a mild Hypomania. When Hypomanic or having a Mixed Episode. Music that is calm or slow can be therapeutic. It can get you back to a stable; normal mindset.
